Session 011 - 12.27.25

Recap

We are heading to Cenos.

Session

We are able to find Cold Winter Clothing for 20gp for the whole group. Martok, Sasha, Theo, Lazlo = 5pg each.

We load up the wagon. Shamoiah gets 3 bird houses for his bushiness. We head out to Cenos.

First 3 days go by uneventful, chilly at night. During the day is manageable. On the morning of the 4th day or travel, we wake up to snow on the ground. It's the first snow fall of the season. Sasha and Martok watched the snowfall calmly. A good 4"-5" of snow. It's fluffy, not heavy.

Coming down the path, very easy to see against the snow, about a mile away, we see a caravan: a wagon, behind it is a large group of people walking in tandem, on either side of the wagon. Sasha determines it might be someone noble.

We decide to keep off the path for them to pass. Minutes go by and it comes closer, with about 20 royal guards. Not the same guard we are familiar with. These are council guards, assigned by the king. The entourage approaches and we can see the heraldry, it's one we do not recognize. For the Chancellor Earlgrave.

The guard waves a morning to us. They pass by and do not stop to question of us. The heraldry is Sword in a Headstone.

Two days before we get to Cenos, we can see the large towers in the background, we see a caravan we don't recognize; parked on the side of the road. It's just sitting there, abandoned. No horses, no people. No damage, but it has been there a while, based on the snow accumulation.

Martok knocks on the door, with no answer. He carefully opens the door. There isn't really anything of note within. Shamoiah uses his lantern of revealing, but it shows nothing.

Theo gets on Bruno and moves about 50'-80' away from the wagon. Shamoiah notices that there are no other tracks other than the Chancellor's caravan passing.

Theo being away from the party, hears someone call out to him. "Hey". He spins Bruno around to the sound. He looks haggard and worn, leaning from behind a tree; hair all wild and dirty, tattered clothes. He steps out and stretches out. He is lanky and goofy. Clothes too small, they were probably stolen.

His name is Boyd and he wants to take the cart. Theo calls for Sasha and tries to run, but we chase him down. He explains he tried to take the cart, but a farmer stabbed him with a pitchfork. He shows us.

Boyd comes aboard our wagon and travels with us to Cenos. He tells us about Cenos for the remainder of the trip.

We arrive. The streetlamps are lightbulbs. This town has electricity, much like the Duke's castle did. It's lavish and luxurious. This is where rich/fancy people come to vacation.

Theo notices a billboard advertising "Arcane Sweets and Treats." It's a candy store, baked goods, etc.

Oona-Lynn sees an advertisement for a "Help Wanted" sign, for adventurers. Meet at the Monstrous Lair Tavern.

Four more days before the council meeting.

Theo darts off the wagon on Bruno, to the candy store.

Shamoiah is concerned about taking Boyd to the Monstrous Lair Tavern. He has a bad feeling. They ask for directions instead. If he needs to be found, he is "around".

Lazlo takes Lady Greyhorn and the carriage to stables. The rest of the group heads to Monstrous Lair Tavern, to check on the "Help Wanted".

We are the weird in the city. Everyone appears to be coming and going to/from work. Council guards are around, within the civilians, so we can ascertain, at least some, of the council members have arrived.

They approach a building that almost looks like it doesn't belong. It has monster bones and skulls; it's all built around an unknown monster skeleton. They hear a muffled, rowdy tavern activity. They enter.

There are warriors, rangers, wizards; it looks like a tavern straight out of a fantasy story. Hooting and hollering and drunken arguments, nothing violent though. It is littered with classes of all type.

Running the bar itself is this, four armed bug bear looking thing.

There is a dungeon below the tavern, tunnels and corridors with some large rooms, it repopulates every few days. People pay good money for the corpses of the monsters. IT seems legit info and above board. This has been going on for a couple/few generations. The bartender's father started the tavern.

Through patience and a few wrong turns, Bruno and Theo manage to get to Arcane Sweets and Treats. It's a small street shop, with a large window, looking in. All of the candy making is done by wizards and sorcerers weaving magic to work the tools.

Theo enters and it smells heavenly. Sweet and warm and chocolately and nutty. He approaches the counter and he is greeted by a human girl. She is wearing an apron/common clothes.

Wild Magic Candies: Random effects / Cheapest (Always has the candies, cookies/cupcakes/cakes change every 3 days).
Cupcakes - Sprinkled with "if you share with someone, you can tell where they are for 24 hours".
Cookies - Come in different numbers (based on how many I want ), gain a bit more vigor for the day (temp HP).
Cakes - Slice of cake will give more vigor and heartiness (temp HP and ADV on CON Saves for 24 hours).

Slice - 5gp
Cookie - 1gp or cheaper in multiples of 5 for 4gp
Candies - 2 / 1gp
Cupcake - 2gp

Theo buys: 12 candies, 10 cookies (d8 of HP, rolled by consumer, for 24 hours), 1 cupcake.

Theo steps outside and eats a candy. This candy is so sweet, it fills him with "friskiness" for an hour.

Theo finds Boyd, behind a dumpster drinking a bottle of booze. Theo tells him to lead him to better liquor, but he eats another candy. He is no longer horny, but doesn't know what happened.

Theo goes in to retrieve liquor for Boyd.

Theo instead does two shorts of clear liquor.

Boyd and Theo head to Monster Hunter Tavern. Theo gets him a 5gp bottle of liquor and gives it and a piece of candy. He eats the candy. He now has a flower growing out of his head. A daisy.

Theo heads back in and links up with the party. We can head down whenever, but we can also retreat whenever we wants. No one will come looking for us, though.

Theo gives everyone a cookie. 5 cookies eaten for the dungeon. And we enter.

The bartender tell us we can go through the box of the lost and found.

Theo finds a coil of rope - One end almost looks like a serpent's head. Labyrinth Rope
Shamoiah finds a collar, like a pet's collar. A crystal hands where the tag would be. It looks very large (like it could fit around Lady Greyhorn).
Oona-Lynn finds a pair of boots, but when she picks them up, are they two left or two right feet? The soles are backwards, but no matter what they look like they are going the wrong way. Boots of False Tracks.

He wishes us good luck and we enter the dungeon as the gates creaks open to allow us in.

The Slayer's Catacombs.

We make our way down, down, down into the dark. We hear the faint clipclop of footsteps as our own echo down the corridor. It's more like a cave system. Natural carved out tunnel system. We initially don't see much. The air smells stale.

Shamoiah hears a clicking sound in the distance. We begin to move towards it. As we're trying to figure out what to do, we hear some squawking.

We hear the movement of some large creature. We charge!

We see a large avian creature, with no wings but scythes for wings.

We dispatch of 2 Hook Horrors.
