Session 010 - 12.13.25
Recap
We are currently hiding in the woods, after leaving the city and the guards behind. We "attacked" them when they attempted to apprehend.
Session
Shamoiah attempts to scry on Torric but it's just cloudy and we can't see him.
Lazlo is keeping low, in the back of the wagon, keeping to himself.
We take a long rest and we wake up, all the bandits had been scared off and we slept just fine.
Shamoiah understands he is a winterbush and the winter tundra is like his favorite terrain. We discuss our current situation and what we are going to do.
We decide to head back to Embertithe and speak with Devvic, in an attempt to clear our names. We start to pack up to head that way. Most of the trees in this part of the wood, being further north, are evergreen.
During the ride, Shamoiah has little white flowers as eyebrows, lavender flowers as a mustache and this is his disguise.
We decide to move quickly and use the main road to return to Embertithe. We decide to get into the city via the sewers, to get to Devvic. Theo unmounts Lady Greyhorn from the cart and Oona-Lynn gathers her some berries to eat. Shamoiah disguises the cart with foliage. Bruno (Theo's pupper) stays with Lady Greyhorn.
We head down to the sewers, from the back way, which we've never done before. It's a little stinky and mist is rolling off the sewer waters.
Theo assists Shamoiah and the party sets off trying to navigate the sewers. We come across a giant aquifer, we think we recognize it. So attempt to head in a direction we think is accurate. No off shoots.
Sasha realizes we are going the wrong and redirects us back. We see something off in the distance. Theo and Oona-Lynn realize this wall of shadow is moving into us, as if the light is being blocked. We see a monstrous jelly like ooze, square shaped.
Theo snaps one of Shamoiah's branches to stop him from walking into it, but it attacks us and Shamoiah is pulled into and combat ensues.
We are able to overcome the jelly boy. Martok's head kinda caught on fire, sorta. There is a creeping, hot smolder that remains present and it flares up when he casts magic. It dips the flame out with the water, and he can flame on.
Shamoiah split and a giant, dead oak came from him as a defender.
Theo duplicated and grew wicked claws.
Oona-lynn moved super fast and attacked with a toy lightsaber, doing massive amounts of damage.
Sasha .... I have no idea what she did. And she refused to share with the rest of the class.
We hear a flapping noise and a caw echoes as we see Devvic's raven. The raven leads us to the Thieve's Guild.
Borne is shocked to see us and asks what we are doing back here. So enter the guild and he retrieves Devvic.
We sit down at the table and wait for Devvic to arrive, a few moments pass and he enters. "I didn't expect you guys to be so soon." We explain to him what's going on.
Shamoiah info dumps on Devvic. Devvic says he might be able to give us a chance to explain ourselves, to hopefully prevent from being thrown into jail.
Devvic explains if we get detained, we might be able to get ourselves out. He explains it's well organized, he will drop us off and he tells us to state our case, honestly and they should let us go. We decided it's no time like the present and we set off to go to the jailhouse.
He leads throw the sewers for about 30 minutes. We arrive upon a ladder, that leads up into a manhole cover type grate/drain. It's just outside the perimeter fence of the jail. It's a gated entrance with barbwire fences. There is a guard box with a window, like a ticket booth. He appears to be bored, doesn't notice us yet.
Martok tells Shamoiah to be quiet and Theo takes the lead, they approach the guard box. The guard's name is Otis and he grants them permission into the grounds.
As we enter, we get the idea that the jail goes downwards instead of up, as it's dwarven in construction. We can see out into the yard; some criminals are lounging, having yard time.
Sherriff McCoy - He is not human, he is a robot. He is a warforged.
About a 75' path into the jail. Placed every so often are towers with archers with crystal devices on the inside, almost like they are on swivels and can be aimed.
(Sidenote: Dude above the sportsball arena): Dark reddish cloak, a mile above the sportsball arena -> He darted off into the distance towards Ishka. We slept that afternoon.
We get to the door and it starts to rise, we hear metallic footsteps as a guard gets us and leads us to a conference room. We are sat as a group and after a few moments, we hear a faint metallic sound of what we think is spurs. He appears and has a large, wide brim hat. The door opens: He is about 7' tall, stocky but not too big, wearing cowboy cloths. Chaps, gun holster, badge, the whole shebangs. It's a metallic man, a robot. He has smooth feature, no hair, soft glowing yellow eyes (C3PO). We can tell he is older technology. His movements are less fluid to new models.
He sits down, takes off his large white cowboy hat.
We explain the situation and he informs us that he had gotten paperwork to check us out, but he didn't send guards for us. He leaves and comes back and lets us know we aren't lying and gives us authority to detain and retrieve any red cloaked figures, dead or alive. While also removing us from the list. We wants us to relay any information to him about the "cult". He reaches inside his coat and pulls out a very fancy pen and sets it down. It is an Emerald Pen. Click once to do it's thing and two clicks to send to Sherriff McCoy.
Sasha asks about the corruption in the captial. Chancellor Earlgrave. He wants to cut funding to the guard. Chancellor is supposed to be funding new sentinel projects. Sherriff McCoy is curious why they can't hired warforged.
We let Shamoiah talk to Sherriff, there have been roughly 50 kidnappings of older people, who never return from working or gathering.
The Duke was on the counsel when Sherriff was a young bot, the first couple years of his existence about 200 years ago.
If we happen to unalive somebody, let him know. He will send someone to reanimate or collect them.
Oona-Lynn asks him what his favorite animal is and he says: Fennic Fox. He heard stories of a really big one that lives in the Fey Wild.
We conclude our business and are escorted out of the jail. As we are leaving, we hear a bell sound and all the prisoners file back into the prison. Yard time is over. A couple stragglers still engaged in their activates, we notice some of the guards shout at them to get going. One of the guards and aims the swivel thing at one of them a beam of white light hits the prisoner and they are forced into the prison via the pain from a giant spotlight.
Our names are cleared. The city is ours.
Shamoiah and Martok get the wagon, the rest of us check in with Devvic.
Theo checks on the gryphon collar. The shop is open and looks like a cluttered bookshop. There are a couple floating books around the ceiling, like butterflies. There is a weird oscillating diagram like planets, orbiting a crystal. Looks like molecules.
Theo rings the bell and she comes out. A tall and lean, blonde curly haired tiefling. Peach in color. Rosey. She has big, round glasses. We discuss the collar and she goes to grab it, and we have a fun little encounter. Elrazi is fantastic, if not a little clumsy. She summoned Devvic instantly to her, he gives her the gold for Theo's commission.
Shamoiah scries on the baby gryphon and he can see it's 3x the size it was before, Olfric doing chores around the house.
